The Carbapenem-resistant K.N.I. Detection K-Set (Lateral Flow Assay) is an immunochromatographic test system intended for the qualitative detection of KPC-type, NDM-type, IMP-type carbapenemase in bacterial colonies. The assay is a prescription-use laboratory assay which can aid in the diagnosis of KPC-type, NDM-type, IMP-type carbapenem resistant strains.
Carbapenems are often the last resort for treating multidrug-resistant gram-negative organisms, particularly those that produce AmpC and extended-spectrum beta-lactamases, which destroy most beta-lactams except for carbapenems.
