Product Introduction

Virusee® SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibody Rapid Test (Colloidal Gold) uses colloidal gold method for the in vitro qualitative detection of the COVID-19 neutralizing antibodies in human whole blood, serum, plasma, or fingertip blood samples. It is mainly used to monitor the infection rate of herd immunity and protective immunity, and evaluate the efficacy of the Novel Coronavirus vaccine.

The neutralizing antibodies are produced in the blood as a result of immune response. They provide protection against future infections from viruses, because they remain in the circulatory system for months to years after infection and will bind quickly and strongly to the pathogen to block cellular infiltration and replication.

Principle

SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibody Rapid Test (Colloidal Gold) adopts a colloidal gold method based on the principle of the double antigen-sandwich technique. During testing, the specimen migrates upward under capillary action. The SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibodies, if present in the specimen, will bind to the S-RBD antigen-colloidal gold complex formed immune complex, the immune complex is then captured on the membrane by the pre-coated S-RBD antigen on the T-line, and a visible colored line will show up in the test line region indicating a positive result. In the absence of SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibodies, no colored line will form in the test line region, which indicating a negative result. To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear at the control line region, indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
