Virusee® SARS-CoV-2 Molecular Detection Kit (Real-time RT-PCR) is used for in vitro qualitative detection of ORF1ab and N gene from SARS-CoV-2 in upper and lower respiratory specimens (such as oropharyngeal swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs, sputum or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples (BALF)) from individuals who are suspected of SARS-CoV-2 infection by their healthcare provider.

The product can be transported under room temperature, stable and reduces costs. It has been included in China white list.

What is COVID-19?

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly transmissible and pathogenic coronavirus that emerged in late 2019 and has caused a pandemic of acute respiratory disease, named ‘coronavirus disease 2019’ (COVID-19), which threatens human health and public safety.

COVID-19 is caused by a virus called SARS-CoV-2. It is part of the coronavirus family, which include common viruses that cause a variety of diseases from head or chest colds to more severe (but rarer) diseases like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).

COVID-19 is very contagious and has quickly spread around the world. It spreads when an infected person breathes out droplets and very small particles that contain the virus. These droplets and particles can be breathed in by other people or land on their eyes, noses, or mouth. In some circumstances, they may contaminate surfaces they touch.

Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.

PCR test. Also called a molecular test, this COVID-19 test detects genetic material of the virus using a lab technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
