Virusee® SARS-CoV-2 Molecular Detection Kit (Real-time RT-PCR) is used for in vitro qualitative detection of ORF1ab and N gene from SARS-CoV-2 in upper and lower respiratory specimens (such as oropharyngeal swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs, sputum or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples (BALF)) from individuals who are suspected of SARS-CoV-2 infection by their healthcare provider.

What is COVID-19?

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly transmissible and pathogenic coronavirus that emerged in late 2019 and has caused a pandemic of acute respiratory disease, named ‘coronavirus disease 2019’ (COVID-19), which threatens human health and public safety.

COVID-19 is caused by a virus called SARS-CoV-2. It is part of the coronavirus family, which include common viruses that cause a variety of diseases from head or chest colds to more severe (but rarer) diseases like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
